Development Operations (DevOps) / Engineering Services is a multi-disciplined technical team responsible for the services and lab infrastructure of all Engineering teams, including Software, Hardware, Firmware, QA/IVT, and Project Management. As EO team lead. I oversee the technical delivery of the services within Engineering, including monitoring, virtual infrastructure, network infrastructure, data centre management, and applications including web and database servers. In particular, the Dev Ops team provides examination, documentation, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical solutions within the engineering lab and network infrastructure, including:- Configuation and management of the Atlassian tool suite- License administration for Engineering tools, as well as Third Party Product (3PP) licensing- Engineering servers (file servers, application servers, license servers, virtual machines) and the development environment (workstations and tools)In addition, I worked on an operational level with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, Technical Support, and Operations, as well as work with vendors to meet project and product goals of this key product. I find process improvements in order to achieve operational efficiencies and cost reduction. I get to do hands on work with bare metal systems to deploy Ubuntu Linux and Windows Embedded Standard solutions; I get to work on an operational level with Oracle Agile to manage BOMs and build assembly instructions and inspections; and I get to do vendor site visits and qualifications.

I focused on the Business Intelligence and OLAP/Multi-dimensional space for Simba's retail products, OEM products, as well as the SDK. I worked closely with customers and partners alike, such as Oracle, SAP, Teradata Microsoft, and Kognitio, becoming familiar with analytics tools such as SAP BO Voyager and Pioneer, Cognos Reporting Studio, as well as Microsoft Excel PivotTables.

In addition to IT management, I also took responsibility for facilities management and external service delivery. External services include Professional Services, Education Services, and Customer Service (Technical Assistance Centre). I created the PS and ES programs and worked with other internal teams to package and deliver these services to our customers.

I took over leadership of the IT team, with full responsibility for every aspect of Zeugma's information technology and communcations strategy, including corporate IT policy and procedures, network infrastructure and lab support, business systems roadmap (intranet, customer and SE support portal, BOM management tools and ERP), communications strategy and cost reduction, as well as revamping and growing the IT staff.

Created and led a small team of PS consultants responsible for installing, integrating, upgrading, and providing training on Redback's NetOp management software. Managed scheduling, customer expectations and commitments, statements of work, price lists, customer facing documentation as well as legal and finacial documentation. Worked effectively with all internal organizations, including Development Engineering, Customer Service Technical Assistance Centre, Education Services, Sales, Product Management, as well as Business Operations.

Responsible for installing, integrating, and upgrading the Solaris and Oracle based NetOp EMS and NPM management software at customer sites worldwide. In addition, developed training materials for both products as well as delivering training to end customers, either at Redback facilities, or on site at customer premises

Acted as Team Lead of 5 person System Administration team, then later as sole administrator for all aspects of IT, including UNIX and Windows servers and desktops, security, networking, telecom, cable infrastructure, HVAC systems, budgeting, planning, and interfacing with senior management. Merged networks during acquisitions of Abatis and Merlin, and managed downsizing during dot.com bubble and Chapter 11.

Sub-contractor for Sun Microsystems and Sun Professional Services, working with the Technical Support UNIX team within the Information Systems Division. Primarily responsible for developing best practices, training and knowledge transfer, day-to-day operational and debugging support as well as various monitoring tools and documentation.

Senior System Administrator for the Engineering Unix systems, primarily a software development environment with over 300 workstations and dozens of servers.

Student technician with the Distributed Computing Support Group. Maintained several Novell networks located in various labs on campus, successfully troubleshooting problems as they arose. Supported students and faculty using installed applications on both Macintosh and IBM computers. Designed and implemented several software applications that supported the computer labs. Instructed several classes in the use of various micro-based applications, and some videotapes of my classes were made available in the Library.

I worked in the Distributed Systems Laboratory with the Network File System (NFS) protocol, and helped design a prototype system for sharing RAM between workstations, loosely based on the NFS protocol. In addition to the technical experience I gained, it was a great opportunity to learn and love Japanese culture.
