I am a freshman at the University of Missouri - Columbia attaining my Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management and minoring in Accountancy, Agriculture Systems Management, and Plant Science. I grew up working on my family farm raising cattle, goats, swine, chickens, and hay, and it is still something that is very important to me. I also help run a custom lawn care business with my brother. Both of these jobs have taught me many lessons and skills such as hard work, time management, flexibility, and teamwork skills. In order to work on a farm, you have to be able to manage your time correctly. Livestock need a lot of maintenance and care, so you have to be ready to do what needs to be done. This also leads into the flexibility needed to care for the livestock that get sick or injured all of a sudden, or when a piece of machinery breaks down in the hay field. You have to be as efficient as possible so that you have minimal down time. Finally, you have to be able to work as a team on a farm. Whether you are working with livestock or in the hay field, you have to know how to work well with your co-workers to be as efficient and diligent as possible.I also have a great deal of leadership experience from the local to the state level. From being the President of my local 4-H club and FFA chapter to being a Northeast Regional Representative on the Missouri State 4-H Council, I have had many opportunities to grow my leadership and communication skills with many different groups of people from the age of eight to adults, and people from agriculture and non-agriculture backgrounds.
