I work parttime as Lecturer Sociology of Religion at the Protestant Theological University. I educate students who want to become a minister in the Dutch Protestant Church, the largest Protestant denomination in the Netherlands. I also started my own company "hetkanWel", together with Matthijs Sienot. hetkanWel provides content for several websites, including MSN.nl, one of the largest websites in the Netherlands. We also organize events and crowd sourcing trajectories. The main goal of the company is expressed in the tagline: "a greener, juster and more fun lifestyle". Each month we reach an audience of 400.000 people. I am also working on a book about the civic participation of immigrant churches in Dutch civil society. It is based on a four year research project (from 2005 - 2009), combining ethnographic and quantitative research methods. It is part of one of the first comprehensive research projects in the previously neglected area of New Immigration and (in this case: Christian) Religion. Church and Civil Society in Leidsche Rijn”).
