Deeply fascinated by extreme environments and their impact on all life forms, I am committed to expanding our understanding of how organisms, from microorganisms to humans, adapt and thrive in the most extreme and challenging settings—such as the deep sea, polar regions, and outer space. My goal is to reveal novel survival strategies that could be applied in various domains and uncover insights into the mechanisms of life and our place in the universe. If you're interested in connecting to discuss collaboration opportunities or explore the intersection of science and innovation, I welcome the opportunity to connect.BIO:A deep-seated curiosity for scientific inquiry and discovery has characterised my professional journey. With over a decade of experience across diverse domains such as Archaeology, Geology, Chemistry, and Data Science, I have developed an interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving. I have contributed to numerous archaeological excavations and projects, and possess experience in data analysis using various statistical techniques and analytical methods such as OES, XRD and XRF. In 2019, I followed a university program in Engineering Sciences, focusing on the fundamentals of mechanical and electrical engineering.Driven by a lifelong passion to pursue Astronomy and Space science, I joined the Spaceomix team in 2022. I actively contribute to outreach and dissemination efforts, mission planning, payload integration, and data analysis. I played a crucial role in integrating human skin samples into specialised space biocubes for transport to the International Space Station for Project Maleth.Over the past two years, I have been actively involved in biomedical science projects and pursued additional education and training courses in Astrobiology, Planetary Science, Space Mission Design & Operations, Programming & Data Science, Space Medicine and Genomics and Biotechnology to augment my expertise. I also completed the Stellar Training for Astronaut Readiness program with Interstellar Performance Labs (USA), honing my skills in human performance within simulated space missions.

Research Support Officer Ii – Care-Omics ProjectUniversity Of Malta Dec 2024 - PresentMsida, MaltaWorking on Project CARE-OMICS – “Comprehensive Approach for Rare Diseases Employing Multi-Omics Strategies”, funded by the Research Excellence Programme 2024 of Xjenza Malta. This project focuses on developing a comprehensive metabolic and genomic database from Maltese patients and healthy individuals. Using advanced single-cell transcriptomics, multi-omics strategies, and AI tools, the project aims to identify molecular targets for the treatment of rare mitochondrial and neuromuscular diseases. A key aspect involves creating the eMalta reference genome, providing critical insights into the Maltese genetic landscape to advance personalised medicine and public health policy. As part of this role, I also contribute to Space Bioscience Research as a member of the University of Malta’s Space Omics Research Group. This involves integrating insights from space-flown biological samples to explore the effects of extreme environments on mitochondrial genetics and health. We collaborate on international missions such as SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn Mission, working towards advancing knowledge in clinical health applications. This role bridges terrestrial and space science, addressing pressing challenges in public health, rare diseases, and human resilience in space. -
