Upon return to Australia, my position at Bravura Solutions migrated from a development role to a business consultant role. This involved introducing Babel into the APAC market for the purpose of the upcoming ATO specified superannuation standardised messaging specification called SuperStream which is based on ebMS and XBRL.Activities include: workshops with clients to determine business and technical requirements to ensure Bravura's introduction to the market would meet client needs; providing assistance to the product business case to set targets; specifying changes to Babel to facilitate development; estimations for enhancements, including client enhancements, third party integration with workflow systems and other Bravura systems; high level project management to ensure deliveries meet milestones; and a reference within Bravura for knowledge on ATO specifications, services (including SuperTICK, FVS) as well as attending ATO information sessions.Babel's introduction to the market has been a successful journey with clients implementing the product and actively using it to perform SuperStream messaging between superannuation funds.

My initial role at Bravura Solutions was a senior developer role in Australia with an R&D team of 20, involving green fields development of a web based financial investment management application. Based on a SOA JEE5 platform using JBoss Seam (JSF, Facelets) as the web framework. Extra involvement included implementing JPA/Hibernate practices, build master using Cruise Control / Ant Hill Pro, change control management using Subversion and quality assurance using Atlassian Clover. Heavily involved in pre-sales support with rapid implementation of demonstration scope requirements.Following this, I was seconded to the London operations of Bravura Solutions for two years as a senior developer working on a financial messaging system called Babel. This included participating in build and architecture of a modern version called Babel 6, as well as providing development support to a legacy version called Babel 2. Technologies for Babel 6 included JBoss, Hibernate, Spring, Seam, Apache Camel, JMS, Web Services, MQ Series, Oracle, SQL Server & Ant. This also involved interfacing with large financial networks including SWIFT (15022 & 20022) and EMX. Babel 6 also introduced and utilised the Agile SDLC.

My initial project at DSTC involved developing a new approach for automating the presentation of multi-media information in future intelligent meeting rooms called LiveSpaces. These meta applications used the LiveSpaces ubiquitous computing infrastructure which comprised a range of technologies from DSTC, UniSA, DSTO and Stanford University. The e-Promo meta application was used to demonstrate the LiveSpaces approach and the e-World lab to the South Australian minister of Science and Information Technology, Dr Jane Lomax-Smith at the opening of the DSTC SA node. The second part of employment involved the reverse engineering and documentation of the design of DSTC’s ODSI (Open Distributed SystemsInfrastructure), a peer to peer based enterprise management system. This task was undertaken using the Unified Modelling Language (UML) and Rational Rose.The third phase of my employment at DSTC involved being part of the AUSPLANS team. AUSPLANS was a collaborative defence project involving staff from DSTC, UniSA, DSTO and Boeing. Particular area’s of work included the development of new ubiquitous computing interfaces (called session interfaces) utilizing the interactive Room Operating System (iROS) and ODSI, as well as developing various software and infrastructure components for the LiveSpaces environment.
