GaAs is a direct-gap semiconductor with better optical properties than its popular counterpart, silicon. The magnetic properties of GaAs semiconductors were studied on samples of Ga1-xMnxAs grown by low-temperature molecular-beam epitaxy (LT-MBE). The magnetization was measured with a Quantum Design Magnetic Properties Measurement System by means of a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). The ferromagnetic transition temperatures for all (GaMn)As semiconductors were between 50K and 75K. Research is ongoing.
