As a co-founder, I've navigated the intricate process of bootstrapping a company from scratch, gaining invaluable insights into startup creation. This includes crafting a clear mission, delving deep into market research, establishing a strong brand identity, and making pivotal strategic decisions. Our notable achievements encompass:- Built a team of what is arguably the best collection of people on the planet. This diverse group spans engineering, product development, marketing, sales, and customer support. Beyond just team structure, I fostered a distinct company culture, drawing inspiration from the innovative ethos of Silicon Valley tech companies.- Crafted our vision and strategy. This involved pinpointing market opportunities, determining our product or service offerings, and strategizing how to set ourselves apart from the competition.- Architected the technical backbone of our project, leveraging state-of-the-art technologies such as React and cloud-native architecture. My personal coding footprint includes approximately 1,000 commits and 64,000 lines of code by the time I transitioned from an active role.- Overseeing a myriad of operational aspects, from designing the company's logo to registering the business and its trademark.

With a profound expertise in UNIX and network security, I am part of the team behind OpenBSD, an open source operating system that is world-renowned for its security innovations. Working on this project allows me to collaborate with some of the brightest minds from around the globe. There is also some notoriety one gets from being a member of the security community and in helping publish some of the world's most widely-used computer software. My contributions to OpenBSD include:- Enhanced security technologies by incorporating advancements in SSP heuristics, implementing Stack Shuffle, developing static analysis checks, and addressing off-by-one errors. This was achieved by introducing a pointer-sized gap before the return value in the stack.- Oversaw and maintained core math and C libraries. Notably, some of my contributions have expanded their reach: the libc is now integrated into Android's Bionic, while libm is a key component of OpenLibm.- Engaged in kernel development, successfully reverse-engineering the RTL8187B WLAN adapter, and crafting a fully-functional kernel driver.- Participated in several hackathons across global locations including Canada, New Zealand, Morocco, and Portugal, to name a few.

As an Information Security Engineer, I've had the distinct privilege of working with some of the world's foremost security experts and hackers. Together, our team consistently delivered unparalleled services in engineering, consulting, design review, code audits, penetration testing, vulnerability management, and automated validations. My notable achievements towards strengthening the security of Google’s products and services encompass:- Pioneered innovative techniques, including compile-time type annotations, which dramatically reduced the potential for vulnerabilities such as SQL injections and XSS.- Integrated cutting-edge low-level security mechanisms like SSP, PIE, and RELRO into the codebase, raising the overall defense posture.- Executed a cyber attack exercise, which involved infiltrating systems and attempting privilege escalations. This endeavor earned me a peer recognition bonus.- Developed passwordless authentication for local devices. Notably, I was among an elite group of only 3 individuals who remained unhacked during relocation.

Designed the technical infrastructure for the largest web hosting provider in Lithuania. At the time, it was serving over 100,000 domains, 50,000 hosting services, and 2,000 virtual servers. For a period, I was the sole technical expert, which necessitated extensive automation to manage such a vast server array with minimal human involvement. The company was recently acquired by Miss Group, a digital solutions provider based in Sweden.- When I first joined, there was a substantial amount of manual intervention required. Recognizing the inefficiencies, I proactively automated numerous processes ranging from server deployment to backup recovery. As a result, we efficiently managed thousands of servers with minimal manual intervention.- I significantly enhanced the company's security stance by transitioning from a PHP interpreter module to a CGI-based interpreter. This pivotal shift enabled privilege separation. Given the scale, this migration was challenging. During this transition, I led the htscanner project and earned the distinction of becoming an official PHP committer.- I dedicated countless nights to optimizing our server rooms. Our expansive infrastructure spanned three distinct data centers: DLC, Telia, and Baltneta. Under my watch, our server racks were impeccably organized, so much so that they were showcased in promotional materials by our data center partners.
