Co-Founder, Faktabaari And Nordis
CurrentFounder and Executive Director to Faktabaari since 2013. Faktabaari is a Finnish online fact-checking and digital information literacy service for more fact-based public debate. The project piloted providing EU facts by correcting rising and common myths from the 2014 Finnish European parliamentary election debate. Ever since it has checked all Finnish elections and some thematic projects. Next to own investigative journalism we crowdsource part of fact-checking to our network of experts. While executing the pilots the project studies the sustainability of factchecking in Finland and participates co-operations globally and especially at theNordic and European level. For maximal outreach Faktabaari is targeted especially for social media influencers including journalists. Faktabaari EDU covers digital information literacy and Faktabaari LAB experimental efforts for information resiliency and online accountability with wide range of partners. Faktabaari is enabled by transparency NGO Avoin yhteiskunta ry (Open Society association Finland). Since September 2021 Faktabaari is part of EDMO NORDIS (Nordic Observatory for Digital Media and Information Disorder) for whom Mikko is a Co-Founder.
