Matt brings more than 25 years of proven experience building engagement strategies and managing successful teams across offices, clients and issues, including particular expertise in social responsibility, corporate reputation management, stakeholder engagement, media relations and integrated communications strategy and planning. Matt's previous roles supporting FEMA included a national national strategist helping increase and improve community engagement for FEMA's Risk MAP program, leading efforts to reduce seismic risk in Utah's public schools, designing a machine learning program to better understand local community risk awareness and mitigation motivations, and acting as a subject matter expert to inform rural community engagement. Formerly, Matt was a Vice President with Weber Shandwick, overseeing a 13 state, four office team supporting Verizon Wireless, as well as account and strategy work for brands such as Vail Resorts, Life Time Fitness, Mars Petcare and Bank of America. Matt was the director of conservation outreach for the World Wildlife Fund where he oversaw outreach, policy and stakeholder engagement related to grassland conversion, food security, trans-Arctic shipping and energy development. He's also provided environmental policy, outreach, facilitation and communications counsel to clients such as British Petroleum, Colorado Governor's Energy Office, US Forest Service and Yale University’s Integrated Climate Change Adaptation and Landscape Conservation Planning initiative. Past clients include: General Motors, Vail Resorts, Columbia Sportswear, AG Edwards, Bank of America, Harley Davidson, Softwood Lumber Board, Domtar, MilkPEP (got milk?), Anheuser Busch, Pizza Hut, and others.
