I served as East Africa Director at TAHMO for the past five years! In this role, I have been responsible for overseeing the technical, operational, and strategic aspects of the organization's mission to build a network of low-cost weather stations across Africa. I'm proud to have been a part of this innovative initiative and to have contributed to delivering timely weather data and information. As a Field Representative for TAHMO (Trans-African Meteorological Observatory) for 5 years, I had the opportunity to work on a project that is making a significant impact on weather monitoring in Africa. TAHMO is building a network of low-cost weather stations across the continent to provide accurate and timely weather information to communities and businesses.As part of my role, I was responsible for maintaining and managing the data profiles of weather stations in Kenya. This involved visiting the stations regularly to perform maintenance and ensure they were functioning optimally. I also monitored the data from the stations to identify any anomalies or issues that required attention.Working with TAHMO was a rewarding experience, as it allowed me to be part of a team that is making a positive impact on the lives of people in Africa. By providing accurate weather data, TAHMO is helping communities to better prepare for extreme weather events, improve agricultural practices, and make informed decisions in various sectors.I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this project and to have contributed to its success.

As a co-founder of our weather data company in Rwanda, I have played a vital role in both the business development and technical operation of the company. Together with my partners, Walter and Dominique, we identified a critical need to provide timely weather data and information to farmers and fishermen in the region.My responsibilities have included identifying new business opportunities and partnerships, developing strategies to improve our operations and customer service, and overseeing the technical aspects of the company. In addition, I have been responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and other organizations working in the agriculture and fishing sectors.Through our efforts, we have been able to make a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of people in our community. Our company has helped farmers make better-informed decisions about planting and harvesting, and enabled fishermen to operate more safely and efficiently on the water. I am proud of the work we have done, and look forward to continuing to grow and expand our services in the years ahead.

As an Earth Networks equipment installer and maintenance technician, I am proud to be part of a team dedicated to providing real-time weather data to support severe weather monitoring. My role involves ensuring that the weather stations are installed correctly and maintained to the highest standards.The data from these weather stations is uploaded to a server in real-time, with lightning data being given priority as it is critical for severe weather monitoring. In the event that the signals or data do not reach the server from the sensors' end, or the signal quality is poor, I take it upon myself to address the issue.Working in this role has given me an opportunity to hone my technical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. I take pride in knowing that the work I do helps keep communities safe by providing accurate and timely weather information.

Attending the Young Expert Program (YEP) was a transformative experience that has greatly impacted my professional and personal growth. During the two-year program, I had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and innovative professionals in my field and gained invaluable experience in my area of expertise.The YEP program provided me with exposure to different cultures and allowed me to work in various contexts, both locally and internationally. It gave me a unique perspective on the challenges faced in various industries and countries and allowed me to develop innovative solutions to address these challenges.Through YEP, I gained extensive knowledge in my field and built a vast network of professionals in my industry. This program provided me with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a significant impact in my field of work.Overall, the YEP program has been an incredible journey of self-discovery, personal and professional growth, and an opportunity to contribute to global development. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to applying the skills and knowledge gained from this program in my future endeavors.

As an IoT mentor at UNDP Rwanda, my role was to guide and support entrepreneurs in the development and implementation of their IoT projects. Through regular meetings and feedback sessions, I helped these innovators to refine their ideas, identify potential challenges and opportunities, and develop strategies for success.I worked with a diverse range of individuals and organizations, from tech startups to social enterprises, all of whom were committed to using IoT to drive positive change in Rwanda. My expertise in IoT technology and entrepreneurship helped to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and successful implementation.One of the most rewarding aspects of my work was seeing the impact that these IoT projects had on the communities they served. From improving healthcare outcomes to enhancing agricultural productivity, these projects demonstrated the transformative power of IoT technology when applied to real-world challenges.As an IoT mentor, I was honored to play a role in advancing Rwanda's innovation ecosystem and helping to build a more sustainable and equitable future for all.

Working as a Tutor in the Department of Engineering at Mount Kenya University has been a rewarding experience for me. Specializing in Measurement and Fault Diagnosis, I have had the opportunity to teach and mentor students in their academic pursuits. One of my key roles has been supervising 3rd-year student projects, where I have been able to guide and support them in their research and development of engineering solutions.As a Tutor, I am responsible for developing and delivering course materials, assessments, and providing feedback to students. I also work closely with other faculty members to ensure that the curriculum is up to date and relevant to the industry. Additionally, I have had the privilege of participating in various research projects, which has allowed me to stay current with emerging trends and advancements in my field.Overall, my experience at Mount Kenya University has been fulfilling and has helped me grow both professionally and personally. I take pride in seeing my students succeed and watching them develop their skills and knowledge in the field of engineering.

As an electrical engineer, I have been fortunate to work on a variety of projects, including the design of electrical lines and the calculation of bills of quantity. In particular, I have had the opportunity to work with Kenya Power, one of the leading utility companies in the country.In the design of electrical lines, my team and I were tasked with creating an efficient and reliable system that could provide electricity to remote areas. We had to take into consideration factors such as the terrain, weather conditions, and the distance from the main grid. Through careful planning and collaboration with other stakeholders, we were able to design a system that met the needs of the community while also adhering to industry standards.In the calculation of bills of quantity, we were responsible for estimating the materials and labor needed for a project. This involved analyzing the specifications, creating a detailed list of materials, and estimating the cost of each item. We also had to consider other factors, such as transportation costs and any potential delays or setbacks.Working with Kenya Power has been a challenging yet rewarding experience. It has allowed me to hone my skills as an electrical engineer and to contribute to the development of the country's infrastructure. I am proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to providing reliable and affordable electricity to all Kenyans

During my internship at Kengen, I had the privilege of being attached to both the Instruments and Electrical departments. In the Electrical department, I was responsible for maintaining electrical systems such as turbine-generators, battery chargers, UPS, electrical motors, switch gears, protective relays, transformers, and standby lead-acid batteries. This experience gave me valuable hands-on knowledge in troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of power systems.In the Instruments department, I was involved in general maintenance of sensors, with a primary focus on calibration. I worked on various instruments such as Temperature Instrument Calibrator, Pressure Gauge Calibrator, Bourdon Tube Pressure Gauge, PH measuring Instrument, seal pit level transmitter, Magnetic Level Switch, Liquid level transmitter, resistant temperature detector used as flow switch, Hydrogen sulphide detector, and Pneumatic valve positional relay, and HART (Highway Addressable Remote Transducer). Through this experience, I developed a keen eye for detail and the importance of accuracy in measurements.Overall, my internship at Kengen provided me with a well-rounded understanding of electrical and instrumentation engineering. I am grateful for the opportunity and the knowledge gained, and I look forward to applying my skills and knowledge in my future endeavors.

I was among the first teachers to start a secondary school in my rural home area. As a Class Teacher in Form One, I taught Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Christian Religion Education for two academic terms.It was a challenging but rewarding experience to be part of the team that laid the foundation of the school. I had to work closely with my colleagues and the school administration to ensure that we provided quality education to our students. We faced various obstacles, including inadequate teaching materials, limited resources, and a shortage of qualified teachers. However, we remained committed to our goal of providing a conducive learning environment for our students.As the Class Teacher in Form One, I was responsible for creating lesson plans, teaching and grading assignments, and assessing the progress of my students. I had to be creative and innovative in my teaching methods to keep my students engaged and motivated. It was fulfilling to see my students grasp concepts and apply them in their studies.Teaching in my rural home area was a humbling experience, and I learned a lot from my students and colleagues. I developed strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure. I also learned the importance of being patient and understanding, especially when dealing with students from different backgrounds and with different learning abilities.Starting a secondary school in a rural area was a challenging but worthwhile experience. I am grateful for the opportunity to have contributed to the education of my community and to have made a positive impact on the lives of my students.
