"Why isn't there a platform to make this easier?"We set out to build IOTEA for so many reasons. It started off with a project at a startup that my co-founder Mateo and I both previously worked at together. There were a variety of devices that we needed to "connect to the cloud". The truth is, there's no easy way to "connect" most technology - at least not yet, not in the way that many people and organizations need to.We want to change that by creating the first multi-protocol, end-to-end, plug-n-play platform for connectivity and automation.

Created a solar design comparison tool that redefined legacy code migrations and prevented them from affecting production results for more than 37,000 production designs per month.Researched and repaired a set of bugs that caused between 24-32.5% of production rooftop solar designs to vary in accuracy. This change also decreased frontend load times by up to 12 seconds.Collaborated on a plan to sunset a legacy system that will eliminate 20+ known user experience, workflow, and data integrity bugs while allowing for new end user customizations.

Gathered requirements and helped architect four major systems with Internet of Things, payment, admin user, and customer user functionality.Recruited two software engineers to begin scaling the team to meet the expected workload, which included six newly added programs for a total of eight programs.Merged 84 pull requests and performed code reviews on each one to help define the growing team’s software development lifecycle (SDLC).Automated CI/CD workflows using Drone.io and Nx Cloud Cache, saving an estimated 79 hours on existing manual code integration and deployments.Conducted weekly sprint planning and retro sessions with daily sprint standups to help coordinate our efforts, voice opinions, and visualize roadmap progress.Scaffolded a set of VPCs in AWS to support segregated environments and networks for internal and public applications. Used 8 different AWS services to securely deploy and persist all containers and virtual machines.

Set up a foundational tech stack that would support realtime data pipelines using Kafka, user management and rapidly available APIs with Supabase (Firebase), and data storage that supported time-series and relational data with TimescaleDB.Architected a service-oriented network to handle bidirectional command, metric, and log data for IoT devices, designed for 100% uptime and global deployment.Developed full stack web solutions for five applications using Next.js (Typescript, React) with use cases ranging from ecommerce, to marketing, to an admin control panel for charging stations with realtime metrics.Created a multi-language monorepo to consolidate 13 applications, services, libraries, and tools that had shared code to streamline development experience.Built a foundational React/Next.js component library with 72 reusable components and hooks in a composable “atomic” structure (atoms, molecules, organisms, layouts).

Refactored a Vue 2 application to Vue 3 and leveraged Capacitor to support PWA, iOS, and Android builds, improving application performance by over 18% and allowing for cross-platform app deployments.Developed an affiliate marketing aggregation website written in Laravel (PHP and Vue.js) for a startup which onboarded over 30 beta users to vet the idea.Architected and documented a system specification for a website-builder startup using acombination of micro-services and serverless architecture using AWS Lambda.

Collaborated on a “zero-knowledge identity network” with five other engineers. Secured a $5 million investment round from a key partner with the beta system.Directed the project for a reusable single-page application (SPA) that deployed into four separate on-premise and cloud contact center platforms at the call queue and agent desktop levels.Planned and maintained a distributed service-oriented architecture (SOA) system that achieved 99.7% uptime with CI/CD pipelines.Introduced internal and external documentation processes to the team for API specifications (Swagger/OpenAPI), database designs, and flowcharts.

Refactored 21 legacy business and intranet applications written in C#/.NET, Powershell, Microsoft Access, or Microsoft Excel into a modern Node.js/Vue and MSSQL stack.Collaborated on planning and migrating EDI connections and maps from custom legacy C# applications, raising uptime from 86% to 98%.Established a new high-margin revenue stream by standing up a Shopify storefront. Forecasted revenue for year two over $100,000 per year.Interviewed and trained two new EDI Analysts, Programmer Analysts, and consultants for the IT team.
