Founder of RPM Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm with over $750M under management. Focus on Mobility & Fintech; early investors in companies like SoFi, Hippo, DailyPay, OpenLane, Xtime, Automatic, and others. All fundamentally reshaped multi-billion dollar industries. I’ve been on over 20 boards of startups, corporations and non-profits. RPM is a low volume shop, only investing in 2-3 deals a year, engage deeply with our companies, are the 1st institutional investor in most of our deals, take board seats, and focus on the success of the entrepreneurs we work with. We have the luxury of doing this because the partners are the largest investor in our own Fund.I'm a former entrepreneur: one IPO and one flameout. When we started RPM, we wanted to make sure we built a firm designed to support entrepreneurs the way we wanted our investors to behave. I love working with entrepreneurs so much that I taught future entrepreneurs for free in my spare time. I believe in leaving the world a better place and that generosity is the highest of human traits. You can be generous with your knowledge, time, or money. I'm fortunate to be able support my wife as she is leaving the world a better place, and hope we find a cure for Food Allergy someday. I don't like self-promotion, but love promoting the businesses I'm involved with. I bleed Maize and Blue and stay close to Michigan in more ways than one (I went to school there twice). I'm a former UofM athlete and threw heavy objects. I wanted to be an astronaut or send robots to other planets. Instead, I became an Internet entrepreneur, but in a twist of fate I spent 6 years advising NASA on how to use commerical partners to advance science.You can typically find me doing 2 things, the first for me because it’s personally fulfilling: working with amazing entrepreneurs, which is an awesome thing to be able to do every day. The second because it’s the only truly meaningful thing to do: trying to make society better by supporting people who are improving the human condition. It can be measured 1 person at time or a whole population, and the only one that can measure it is yourself.Sometimes you can find me on a bike thinking about those two things. And when I'm with my family, very few people should be able to find me.
