Jeg har fokus på at indarbejde bæredygtighed i Novafos’ anlægsprojekter; at reducere klimaaftryk, miljøpåvirkninger og ressourceforbrug fra anlægsprojekterne.Novafos er vand- og spildevandsselskab i 9 kommuner: Allerød, Ballerup, Egedal, Frederikssund, Furesø, Gentofte, Gladsaxe, Hørsholm og Rudersdal. Vores primære opgave er at levere drikkevand og at håndtere regn- og spildevand, og det ønsker vi at gøre så bæredygtigt, som muligt.Novafos har mange anlægsprojekter, bl.a. renovering af drikkevandsledninger og klimatilpasning af afløbssystemerne, så de kan rumme de øgede mængder regn.Anlægsarbejde giver udledninger af drivhusgasser; fra entreprenørmaskiner og fra de materialer, der anvendes (for eksempel produktion af beton, plast, grus og asfalt), fra opgravning og transport af jord, og fra bortskaffelse af byggeaffald. Anlægsarbejde kan ikke gennemføres CO2-neutralt med de nuværende teknologier, men Novafos arbejder på at finde løsninger, der har så lavt CO2-aftryk som muligt, uden at gå på kompromis med krav om at de færdige løsninger skal kunne løse opgaven med at håndtere regn- og spildevand. Anlægsarbejde medfører også miljøpåvirkninger og forbrug af ressourcer.Mine opgaver omfatter• Livscyklusvurderinger (LCA) og indsamling af data, fastlæggelse af baseline og beregninger af opnåede forbedringer• Opbygning af intern viden om bæredygtighed i Novafos• Udarbejdelse af et idé-katalog med forslag til at indarbejde mere bæredygtige løsninger • Samarbejde med mine engagerede kollegaer; sammen forsøger vi at finde mere bæredygtige løsninger • Muligheder for at indarbejde bæredygtighed i udbud og indkøbsaftaler• Samarbejde med Novafos’ ejerkommuner, andre forsyningsselskaber, rådgivere, entreprenører og producenterMine opgaver går på tværs af Novafos: Vandværker, drikkevandsledninger, klimatilpasning af afløbssystemerne til spildevand og regnvand (rør, bassiner, pumpestationer mv.) og renseanlæg.

My tasks at SDU Life Cycle Engineering included a combination of external projects, teaching and administration.My external projects in recent years have been related to Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), Carbon Footprint, the EU initiative Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), the EU directive on Ecodesign and the EU regulation on energy labelling, eco-labels and public green procurement.Teaching at the courses "System Analysis - Life Cycle Assessment" and "Eco-efficient Engineering" at the program Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and "Design for Environment" at the program Diploma in Engineering in Integrated Design. In addition, I have supervision of students (Master thesis projects and individual elective projects).Administration: Center coordinator at SDU Life Cycle Engineering. The center was founded in August 2015, and I have been involved in establishing the center from the beginning. I was responsible for keeping an overview of the center's finances, budgets and annual accounts, as well as follow-up on the economy for the center's many projects. Furthermore, I was responsible for the intranet as well as a number of practical tasks, e.g. organization of center meetings and seminars.

Contribution to the project TOPWASTE. The overall objective of TOPWASTE was to optimise the management of household waste, by increasing recycling of materials as well as utilising the energy content of the residual waste. Economic and environmental aspects were taken into consideration. My task was to establish the foundation for the Excel based Carbon Footprint tool in the project. www.topwaste.dk Participation in the project “Baltic Forum for Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Manure Management” (EU funded). My part of the project was conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) of slurry management technologies, and supervision of co-participants with regard to the LCA methodology. I had the responsibility for coordination of databases from all participating countries. www.balticmanure.euSupporting the Danish Environmental Protection Agency in relation to the revision of the BREF document for Intensive Rearing of Poultry and Pigs (BREF is a Best Available Techniques reference document by the European Commission). I established an Excel-based screening tool for calculation of the emissions from various manure management technologies. The tool was used in the revision process.Project leader and conductor of two projects: “Life Cycle Assessment of Slurry Management Technologies” (funded by Danish Environmental Protection Agency). Establishing the foundation for life cycle assessments for manure management technologies in Denmark, including biogas production based on manure. The projects included cooperation with the industries involved.Teaching at courses on the Environmental Engineering education: “Life Cycle Assessment” and “Eco-efficient Engineering”.Part of this period, I lived in Scotland with my family (2 years, posting, my husband’s job).

Projects, mainly life cycle assessments (LCA) within various categories, e.g.: Energy-using Products, furniture and building slabs, various food products including meat and dairy products, reuse of medical equipment, management of household waste, municipal collection systems for glass packaging from households and municipal waste management.The projects were carried out for the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, Joint Research Centre (for the European Commission), Ecolabelling Denmark, ANEC (The European consumer voice in standardisation), the Directorate for Food Industry in Denmark and various private companies.Furthermore:• Recommendations to the development of Environmental Product Declarations and Eco-labels• Merging input-output tables with LCA databases (involving macro programming in Excel)• Management of large amounts of data and large databases.• Reviewer of Life Cycle Assessments• Taking care of the Danish helpdesk & support for the LCA software, SimaPro, and teaching SimaPro usersPart of this period, I lived in Scotland with my family (3 years, posting, my husband’s job)

The tasks as consultant at the Institute for Product Development mainly included LCA projects; textiles, reuse & recycling of wine bottles, recycling of plastics, and packaging for milk. The projects were mainly conducted for the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and private companies.Furthermore, I was involved in the development of the Danish LCA method, EDIP (Environmental Design of Industrial Product, In Danish: UMIP - Udvikling af Miljøvenlige Industri Produkter). Author of the example for a Bang & Olufsen Television and the development of teaching material to the EDIP method.In addition, I had the responsibility for arranging a row of workshops and seminars within the LCA area on the behalf of the Danish Environmental Protection Agency in 1997-1998.Appointed as a national expert of Dansk Standard in relation to the development of the ISO standards for life cycle assessments. Resulted in the ISO standards on LCA in the ISO 14040 series. 1993-1997.
