Working as a staff engineer in the embedded systems software team. Specialist in fiber optic sensors for aerospace structures.Involved in creating demonstrations of a state of the art strain sensing system. These are designed to highlight the response of interesting structures to static stresses, dynamic thermal inputs, and vibration environments. Live demos are broadcast continuously, with high-speed real-time data from 4000 strain gauge sensors embedded in a fiber optic cable.Product improvement cycles are ongoing, with near term goals for increased ruggedization of the sensor instrument, higher performance, improved documentation, and additional user tools. My personal goal is to build and install a system that measures strain at 100 Hz from 64,000 locations around an aircraft, and fits in the palm of my hand.
