I’m a customer-oriented professional going on 14 years in the commuter rail and bus industry including management of transportation programs generating 30+ million in annual revenue, but this was never my career path.It started with my internship, a promotions intern for a non-profit association organizing community events such as farmers markets. After graduation, I moved to Michigan and landed my first job, an events coordinator for the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce. It was here where I wrote marketing plans, learned about sponsorship's, budgets, importance of building relationships, defining stakeholders, basic graphic design, leading committees, supervising volunteer staff and more. After, I took on an opportunity at an A/E firm. I learned about presentations, ISO standards, developing RFP/RFQ responses and chaired a committee responsible for managing a small team of employees to coordinate employee events, communications, surveys, etc. Due to my networking at the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, I was offered an opportunity at the Henry Ford Estate – Fair Lane, owned by the University of Michigan – Dearborn. Since I had built the connection prior, I already did banquet supervising, but instead, was offered a position in the catering office. Sure, it was all about events, but I ended up using my experience and creativity I didn’t know I had. I developed client databases, marketing materials, paid ads, marketing plans and took an active role in a branding redesign as I continued to successfully organize, plan and execute small and large events including for political leaders. I’m a motivated self-starter with outstanding customer service, communication and demonstrated management skills. I’m exceptionally detail-oriented and organized. That’s probably why I’ve coordinated large transportation projects and internal/external projects with success. I know how to maintain the company’s bottom line while exceeding the customer’s expectations.
