While pursuing his Undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations, Mwila served as President of the Student Union body and centered his leadership on advocating for lower student fees, creating systems that support the total inclusion of students living with disabilities, and engaging in various programs that sought to support students battling with Mental Health issues and drug addiction. After his tenure he was recognized for exemplary leadership by the University management.
