Responsible for the programming, operations and management of WRGC-FM, a public radio station licensed to the University. Essentially, I was the news director, program director, operations manager, general manager and underwriting representative rolled into one. I successfully developed new programs designed to highlight campus activities and University priorities including faculty and student research, special events, and the performing arts. I wrote and produced newscasts and podcasts on major campus and community events, promoted the radio station and its programs through traditional and new media, and represented the radio station in media interviews and at civic club presentations.

Responsibilities included gathering, writing, editing and presenting newscasts for radio stations WGAU, WXKT and WNGC; interviewing newsmakers and developing compelling stories; reporting live from the scene of breaking news events. Key Accomplishments• Played a key role in the launch of WXKT-FM, a news-talk station targeting the Gainesville, Georgia market.• Assisted in the training and development of station news talent.• Frequent contributor to the Georgia News Network.

Responsible for overall communications, marketing and public relations activities for public K-12 school system with approximately 13,000 students. Duties included media relations, community relations, web editorial management, special events, and graphic design.Key Accomplishments• Developed system’s first strategic communications plan that helped reverse negative perception, culminating in overwhelming voter approval for tax proposals in 2001 and 2006.• Played key role in development of system’s first continuous improvement plan, which led to system becoming one of the first in Georgia to earn district-wide accreditation.• Developed system’s first crisis communications media plan.• Developed system’s first Web site, electronic newsletters, and podcasts.• Developed system’s graphic identity.• Developed award-winning marketing programs designed to improve community perception of schools.• Negotiated $1.3 million lease of system’s FCC license.• Improved stakeholder engagement initiatives resulting in greater public participation in and broader adoption of major policy initiatives.
