Nhs Shielding AdvisorSelecto Recruitment Apr 2020 - Aug 2020Sheffield, England, United KingdomWorking on behalf of the NHS shielding time I was responsible for making calls to those who were classed as vulnerable through the covid-19 lockdown. I would make calls to the vulnerable ensuring that that their basic care and wellbeing needs were taken care of as well as ensuring that they had enough food in the house and ways of getting food on a regular basis. At times I would be talking to patients who were extremely distressed, angry, and upset and who perhaps didn't have a great understanding as to what was happening so extra time would be needed to explain this to them and also to just be a friendly voice to those who may have been left alone with no family / friends to communicate with. I made it my duty to give them all my undivided attention and give my time to those who needed it. After a short time with the shielding team I was selected to be moved onto the council team. In this new team I would liaise with local councils across England making them aware of vulnerable patients in their area who needed urgent help, whether it be with food, care, or wellbeing needs. It required a great deal of attention to detail as missing any small factor could result in tragic results for the patient. Duties included but were not limited to:- Calling hundreds of patients a day- Understanding of different circumstances that people may be in- Great attention to detail- Carrying out admin duties in timely manner - Liaising with local councils across England- Manual data input for patients - Escalations to 999 calls in the worst case scenarios - Coping well under pressure throughout the whole time
