The content of the programs is very diverse, from protecting and reforesting riverbanks together with small farmers, up to influencing national politics regarding free flowing rivers where dams are planned. The programs are implemented with help from funds, which come from major private donors or public funds, for example the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the EU.

Ensuring effective implementation of a common strategy and workflow, including weather room tooling and other major change efforts in the weather room (internationally). The international weather room of MeteoGroup is dispersed over 9 locations with over 100 meteorologists, consisting out of different teams, like marine, media and monitoring meteorology. I coordinated products and services for large customers like Keywall (Belgium/France). I also developed a learning program for forecasters internationally.

Identifying areas of improvement and implementing efficiency gains. Being the Product Owner of the historical weather database, guiding a team of developers towards a successful completion of this tool. Setting up theme presentations as a new weather room product - giving guidance around more complex matters like climate change, hurricanes and sea ice.

Mexico, San Cristóbal De Las Casas

I studied "Bats as indicators of forest recovery". Fieldwork in Lacanjá in South Mexico, capturing (and releasing) over 500 bats by using mistnets and placing a plastic under the net, capturing the feces. Labwork was conducted at the university Ecosur in San Cristóbal de las Casas, where the diet of the bats was studied in the laboratory by examining the seeds in the feces of the bats.
