In 2018, I had the honor of founding and establishing the first Theravada Buddhist Center in Greece, a significant milestone aimed at serving the spiritual needs of the Sri Lankan community residing in the city. This initiative was deeply rooted in my commitment to provide a sacred space for the practice of Theravada Buddhism, ensuring that the Sri Lankan diaspora could connect with their cultural and religious heritage.Recognizing the potential for cross-cultural exchange, the center was also established with the vision of introducing the original teachings of Buddha to the Greek populace. This endeavor was not just about building a temple, but about fostering a bridge between different cultures and philosophies.The journey took a significant leap forward in 2019 when, after extensive research and outreach, we succeeded in inviting Bhante Nyanadassana, a revered senior Buddhist Forest Monk, to Greece. With over 40 years of monastic life in Sri Lanka, Bhante Nyanadassana is not only a devout practitioner but also a distinguished scholar and author of more than ten books. His arrival marked a new chapter for the center, enabling us to offer authentic teachings and insights directly from a learned monk steeped in the Theravada tradition.This center stands as a testament to the power of faith, perseverance, and the unifying force of religious and cultural understanding. It remains a beacon for those seeking spiritual growth and a platform for intercultural dialogue, continuing to enrich the lives of both the Sri Lankan community and the Greek people.

In 2020, I was privileged to be appointed as the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Greece, a role that has allowed me to deepen my commitment to fostering strong bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Greece. This position has not only enabled me to extend my support to the vibrant Sri Lankan community in Greece but has also been instrumental in facilitating business and cultural exchanges between the two nations.One of my key tasks in this role was the organization of the Sri Lankan Ambassador’s official visit to Greece in 2023. This involved arranging the Ambassador’s presentation of credentials to the President of the Hellenic Republic, a significant diplomatic event that underscores the growing ties between our countries. The visit was a landmark moment in reinforcing diplomatic channels and paving the way for future collaborations.Additionally, I have been actively involved in organizing and conducting high-level meetings between Sri Lankan and Greek officials. These interactions have been crucial in exploring and enhancing the scope of cooperation in various sectors, including trade, culture, and education. My efforts are aimed at creating a robust framework for sustainable growth and mutual benefits for both Sri Lanka and Greece.Through this role, I am committed to not only strengthening the existing bonds of friendship but also to exploring new avenues for collaboration, thereby contributing to the prosperity of both nations.
