Each day I have the honor of advising C-Suite leaders on how to build organizations that will deliver outsized returns, incubate and attract world-class talent, and provide a deep sense of meaning to each employee. Whether it's in Sales, People Ops, or Engineering - the skillsets that leaders and ICs must possess to thrive are unlike anytime in our history. In my role, I serve as a trusted advisor to quickly diagnose systemic issues and provide practical solutions that solve problems at scale. We live in a world where leaders have to challenge every paradigm if they want to last. My unique life experiences have provided me with an uncanny ability to deeply connect with any person and provide them perspective on what their new normal can be. The story of how that came to be is below. (The Technical Skills Marathon)Prior to BetterUp, I spent 10 years bouncing between investment banks and consulting firms. While I abhorred the long hours and less-than-friendly work environments, it was foundational in building my analytic skills. Whether it was with analyzing large datasets in finance or building executive presentations from scratch in <30 min, this work allowed me to get comfortable with translating data into compelling stories. So thank you to every manager that took my mouse away when I used excel or forced me to create 30 versions of the same deck. You were pivotal in ensuring craftsmanship in my work and confidence in my critical thinking.(Psychology & Business Stuff)I graduated from Boston College with a Bachelor's in Human Developmental Psychology. I stumbled into banking and realized that I could build cross-functional relationships and diagnose workplace behavior effortlessly. These skills while important did not translate to buy-in from executives on investing dollars to uplevel talent. This struggle of trying to convince leaders and resisting continuing education lasted for six years. Then one day I learned about a field called Applied Positive Positive Psychology and immediately applied for the Master's program at UPENN. This program provided me with the skills to translate psychology’s importance in building stellar organizations to leaders that needed data before they would spend a dollar. This sparked my pivot into a Go-To-Market role in tech where I now help leaders unlock performance and upskill talent through a platform based in behavioral science.
