I'm now focused on personal and professional (life) coaching. I typically work with professional scientists who are facing the insecurities and challenges of leadership. Senior Water Quality OfficerEnvironment Agency Feb 2018 - Dec 2022United KingdomI reviewed water quality assessment reports, working within the Environment Agency's national centre of excellence for marine water quality modelling. I used my consultancy experience to confirm the models used were of high standard (well calibrated, applied appropriately) and to help my colleagues interpret the results. This role also included advising on design refinements to mitigate environmental impacts, and on occasion helping the modellers to improve their practice.I was frequently called into project meeting with little notice and minimal preparation, which helped me learn to ask probing questions and understand the context from little information. On the other hand, I was also involved in long-term projects, where I was embedded within a project team. In those cases I was able to gain a deep understanding of the issues and concerns, and become sufficiently familiar with the other parties that I knew what I could take on trust, and where I needed to probe more deeply.
