About Cynthia Chmielewski

As a retired educator I taught various grade levels and subject matter during my 28 year tenure as an elementary and special educator in the public school system. In addition to my teaching responsiblities I served as a Science Curriculum Coordinator, Math Facilitator, Student Council Advisor, Team Leader and Coach. I mentored several new teachers, and was a cooperating teacher to numerous student teachers. In 2003 I was named Teacher of the Year, and received a special recognition award from the DARE program for my many years of continued service. Now that I am retired I use my teaching ability to educate patients about the importance of becoming active participants in their healthcare and advocating for their rights. I educate fellow survivors through mentoring, active involvement in patient support communities, social media and as a patient ambassador. I also am a member of several patient advisory boards to pharmaceutical companies and myeloma non-profits.Specialties: Advocate and Mentor- I encourage patients to educate themselves, find support and to make sure their voice is heard.
