This signature Ernst & Young volunteer program for education in the US, targets students who have the potential to succeed in college, but need some extra help creating the "MAP" that will take them there. The College MAP provides support to underserved students as they consider the dream of higher education. The program helps students navigate the application and financial aid process, provides access to resources, and exposes them to the benefits of higher education.Rising high school juniors from Birmingham, New York, Boston, and Charlotte who participate in EY’s College MAP (Mentoring for Access and Persistence) program had the opportunity to participate in an enriching summer camp at The University of Alabama. The Positive Pathways Program (P3) is an innovative concept that aims to increase the long term labor prospects of youth aged 16-24. P3 youth are supported by a network of staff and mentors who believe in a positive youth development model to help achieve their personally defined educational and workforce goals. P3 facilitates youth-led non-violence and restorative justice projects and trains teens and young adults on how to engage community resources to help create a better environment for themselves and their peers.The P3 program offers eligible youth a 'menu' of educational & workforce development services to ensure they acquire the skills to advance their educational and vocational pursuits, along with the support to overcome substantial risks factors and barriers. Health Hut Interns work two 2-hour shifts each week in the Hut as members of Project Health. Interns engage visitors with games, activities, and conversations aimed at increasing student awareness about health issues and behaviors that directly affect them, increase student knowledge about healthy behaviors and making healthy choices, and reduce the barriers students perceive to improving their health. The Health Hut currently has over 200 visitors a day. The University of Alabama has 88 members total, interns & ambassadors, of Project Health. The Association of Residential Communities (ARC) is a student-led organization that encourages creative thought with the empowerment of diversity; development of future campus leaders at the Capstone; membership in student housing organizations for state, regional and national recognition; evolutionary partnerships with other UA student organizations; and educational enhancement of a traditional college experience with programs that support wellness, safety, environmental awareness, social living and shared learning.
