I maintain a research-grade network of weather stations known as the NC ECONet (Environment and Climate Observing Network). This includes installing, troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and calibrating weather instrumentation. I perform daily quality control of ECONet weather data. I have completed hundreds of routine and emergency field visits, and keep an updated record of technical information including sensor models, sensor serial numbers, and metadata photos of the land cover surrounding each station. I have trained 3 field technicians and 3 undergraduate interns. I plan and participate in weather and climate related education and outreach activities.My research focuses on urban heat in North Carolina. Collaborating with national and local organizations, I co-organized the Raleigh and Durham Urban Heat Island Mapping Campaign in 2021. In addition to serving as the instrumentation expert, I also developed spatial data visualizations displaying the temperature distribution across Raleigh and Durham. Currently, I am leading a project utilizing unmanned aerial systems (UAS, or drones) to observe and analyze the relationship between urban land surface temperatures and heat stress on the campus of North Carolina State University.

Collaborated with a cohort of 11 other multi-disciplinary graduate students to share knowledge and experience gained from applied science, develop and host seminars featuring subject matter experts, and launch a project analyzing the JEDI+A (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) footprint of SECASC projects.

GIS 520: Spatial Problem SolvingI developed a suitability analysis exercise for use in graduate-level geographic information systems course curriculum. I tutored students during help sessions and answered questions posted in the class forum. I graded assignments and final projects for 19 students.

Identified personal strengths and developed leadership skills including problem solving, conflict resolution, building trust, and effective communication through hands-on scenario training.
