Served as the Pharmacy Lead in the CMS application process and implementation of new Medicare Advantage Plan for the health plan in 2015. Serves as the Pharmacy Lead for the yearly CMS bid process. Manages the PBM relative to Medicare Part D delegated functions to ensure compliance with CMS regulations. Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of Medicare Part D policies and procedures to help ensure effective and efficient practices are utilized. Serves as the lead pharmacist and liaison between the health plan’s Medicare Operations Team, PBM, other delegated vendors and Pharmacy Department to ensure effective operational management of existing programs and implementation of new programs as a result of the Call Letter, Annual Notice of Change, Annual Bid, Annual Formulary Submissions and CMS directives. Develops, implements, and manages targeted pharmacy programs designed to educate members/physicians about clinical improvements and/or cost-savings initiatives, programs designed to improve operational efficiency or ensure departmental service obligations are met in a satisfactory manner. Serves as pharmacy lead for pharmacy related star ratings for the purpose of our Medicare product(s) achieving the highest possible star ratings. Activities include identifying underlying drivers of Part D star performance and developing and implementing evidence-based medication management quality initiatives to close medication adherence gaps and to improve star ratings.

Provide pharmacy financial consulting, clinical consulting, and operational consulting for various hospitals, long term care facilities, long term care corporate offices, assisted living facilities and group homes. Developing policies and procedures for healthcare facilities to insure state and federal regulatory compliance including DEA & JCAHO. Using prescription data to develop formularies and manage pharmacy programs that impact drug utilization and decrease costs. Develop quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives. Perform DUR (drug utilization reviews) of patient profiles. Providing education and presentations to healthcare professionals. Performing in depth prescription cost analyses for healthcare facilities.

Responsible for start-up, sales, growth and management of multi-million dollar pharmacy companies including Long Term Care Pharmacies, Hospital Pharmacies and Retail Pharmacies. Built companies from ground up including developing all company policies, procedures and operations. Built and managed a team of over 70 professionals. Generated new business through sales, marketing, public relations and company branding. Negotiated all client contracts. Boosted company’s client base from 1 to over 100 facilities serviced, meanwhile increasing sales from $0 to over $1 million in monthly sales. Opened and ran hospital pharmacy in Houston, Texas for GPS Pharmacy. Served as pharmacy biller and MAR generator.

Responsible for opening 2 pharmacies from the ground up in brand new stores.
