Myra Katz Pa-C, Bcpa Email and Phone Number
After 30 years of being a Physician Assistant, I made the transition to becoming a Board Certified Patient Advocate. Throughout my years as a PA, I enjoyed advocating and educating my patients and felt there is a greater need for Advocates, particularly those with my experience. I have worked in hospitals, out-patient internal medicine, and most rewarding in a community hospital based Hematology and Oncology Practice. Patients (and families) who are diagnosed with cancer often are lost, terrified and may not be able to see the broad picture, and how to approach their illness. As an advocate, I walk patients and family members through this journey, beginning with understanding their illness, (using reputable internet sites) accompanying them to office visits, helping to arrange second opinions, if desired and prepare them for what lies ahead. Oftentimes, family members are either out of town or due to previous commitments, are unable to accompany loved ones to their doctor visits. I will be with the client, ask appropriate questions, and will then report back to the family members. In addition, I will obtain all pertinent present and past medical records, and give clients a summary to bring with them to visits. I will also evaluate them for any preventive care, and will send reminders of when such care is required.I have tremendous compassion for dealing with terminally ill patients, and recognizing the need for end of life care. I have a unique ability to communicate with patients and family members about palliative care. Specialties: Compassionate medical care, Oncology, Hematology, Internal Medicine
