I work at the nexus of science (data intelligence) and spirituality (natural intelligence). As a consultant, I'm laser-focused on the use of ethical data intelligence for the benefit of humanity.Publishing 90+ issues of Apogeo Spatial over two decades has provided me with a rare broad understanding of data, and where it's going. As an organizer of the International Symposium on Digital Earth at UC Berkeley, I launched a program for Amnesty International, “Eyes on Darfur,” and also covered a similar project in the magazine, “The Sentry,” founded by George Clooney, who was quoted about the use of satellites to track genocide in Sudan. Now, my gaze is focused on seeing the future – the future of data, and the importance of ethics in emerging technologies. AI will eventually – much like GPS – impact every aspect of our lives. I am a certified AI Ethics Ambassador from AI Ethics.World. Here are a few ways to raise your awareness of AI:✓ Learn about the U.S. State Department Global Partnership on AI, and the U.S. AI Bill of Rights.✓ Watch documentaries such as The Coded Bias, The Social Dilemma, and The Great Hack.✓ Follow experts like Rich Heimann, author of several books on AI, and Matthew James Bailey, author of Inventing World 3.0: Evolutionary Ethics for AI.As a journalist, communications expert, co-host for a PBS show, “Behind the Wings,” and host of Gaia Gossip for nonprofit Her Many Voices:✦ I ask questions of astronauts, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and indigenous changemakers, to go deeper.✦ I anticipate the trends in emerging technologies for humanity.✦ I synthesize information about how tech impacts human evolution.✦ I translate complex concepts and communicate with non-technical stakeholders. On the other side of the desk, as a guest on podcasts such as “The Life Changes Show" and "Life 2.0," I speak about the nexus of science and consciousness. My nonprofit work extends into Panama with Geoversity, on the Global Advisory Board creating conservation communities and life-changing learning experiences, and as co-founder of the Geoversity School of Biocultural Leadership.I spent the 1990s in the corporate publishing world (with clients such as P&G, Nikon, and Frito Lay), then founded Blueline Publishing, launching nine books, including Angels Flying Out of Hell, the inspiring story of Operation Babylift at the end of the Vietnam War. I will consider editing projects.Throw in Midwest roots, a year-long solo trip around the world, an autistic adopted son, and you’ll understand more about me.
