Operations Front Line Leader

Supervise daily production activities.

Report directly to Plant Manager. Responsible for safety and productivity for IIG's Phenix City facility.

I reported to the Director of Plant Operations with responsibility for 24/7 production operations at the site. This included: material planning and production scheduling; department HR and training; reconciliation of daily and month-end reports; project management; scheduling and supervision of machine shutdowns for clean-out and maintenance; direction of general plant housekeeping efforts; and multiple training activities. Reports included 4 Shift Supervisors and a total of 84 Production Associates on 4 rotating 12-hour shifts as well as one 8 hour shift of 4 individuals responsible for unloading bulk raw materials and housekeeping in the furnace/fiberizing section of the facility. I also had responsibility for a budget of nearly $10 million per year. In addition, I accomplished the following:Developed, introduced, and led the training of staff to improve I reorganized irganized the quality department, and led training in root cause analysis that resulted in a substantial increase in product quality on all of the production lines. In 2010 quality complaints dropped from 58 to 12. In the first half of 2011 quality complaints dropped further, to only 3 complaints over 6 months.Spearheaded safety conformance initiative among the production employees, leading to a 50% reduction in safety-related issues such as falls and contusions, and a realized savings of 7% of department operational costs.I directly participated in a total update of all site-specific ISO documentation, including procedures, work instructions, manufacturing and product specifications, and all records affecting product quality. I also trained as an internal quality auditor, receiving lead auditor certification in 2011, helping to assure site recertification to the ISO 9001-2010 standard.

I reported to the Production Manager, leading and directing a rotating shift of 45 full-time employees on 3 production lines. I was responsible for multiple tasks, which included: safety and production monitoring while on-shift; production schedule verification on my shift; raw material inventory control during production runs; disciplinary action as necessary; and specific job assignments per shift. I also conducted limited root cause analysis on traceable shift issues, such as packaging errors or the intentional packing non-conforming product. I was promoted to Production Manager because of my suggestions leading to process and product improvements, my overall knowledge of the plant, and my contributions to the success of the Knauf team. Additional accomplishments include:Identified personnel for training, spotting talent that could be developed to the benefit of the companyOversaw plant security while on shift, and assisted with this as needed at other times while on-call.I supervised maintenance activities, including maintenance project work, while on shift.

I reported to the Process Manager, with the responsibility for repairing and maintaining the furnaces, assisting in daily process adjustments, and. I was promoted to Production Supervisor because of my dedication, skills, and financial and management background.

I reported to the Process Manager, with responsibility for all aspects of the batch house operation, including unloading bulk raw materials, mixing raw materials into the correct quantities, and monitoring the equipment that fed material to the furnace. I was promoted to Furnace Technician due to my ability to address mechanical and process issues on the forming end of the plant, and my insistence on the manufacture of high-quality insulation.

I reported to the Production Supervisor, with responsibility for packaging fiberglass, delivering finished goods to the warehouse, and entering material location information. I was promoted to Batch House associate due to my ability to operate the unloading equipment and easily track incoming raw materials.
