I commenced my career with the Australian Defence Force initially as an Army Reservist learning the basics of transport and logistics and then as a permanent logistics specialist with the Royal Australian Air Force where I developed a thorough knowledge of logistics, aircraft weight and balance, aviation fuel quality control and in depth knowledge of Dangerous goods and explosives while managing hazardous / explosive storage facilities, bulk fuel depot and air loading teams. Since leaving the military, I have held roles in training management to state level across a number of industries including Registered Training Organisations. I have been developing my skills set in the work health and safety area with roles as an regional safety manager and WHSO in major project construction. Currently I am a Health & Safety professional with an emergency management specialisation.My PC skills are superior and I enjoy adapting to new technologies. I have learned basic skills in writing web pages in the early days of the internet.I communicate across all levels including having written articles in a number of emergency service publications and contributing to a commercial book following TC Yasi in 2011.I enjoy speaking in public and have a long history of training across all industry areas I have been employed in.Having 4 decades in the Rural Fire Services of NSW and QLD has allowed me to develop superior skills in incident and risk management, volunteerism and the management of volunteers, resource management, command and control and management of rapidly developing situations. I continue to volunteer to this day.I have been a member of the RFSQ strategic planning committee work groups. Memberships include* Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Emergency Services * Member of the Safety Governance Institute* Member of the International Association of Emergency Managers.* Director (Secretary) of the Australian Bushfire Management Association.I have deployed into many major disasters including all major fire emergencies in the Greater Sydney Region 1994 - 2005, Tropical Cyclones Larry, Yasi, Ita, Marcia & Debbie, Townsville and Ingham Floods.
