Mark has 25 years of digital media experience in a variety of both commercial and academic roles.He founded Morse Media - a new media design studio, in 1997 and spent five years as Director and Lead Developer working to bridge the gap between design agencies and IT firms new to the web. He worked behind the scenes to bring projects to fruition such as the ACC intranet, Royal New Zealand Navy and Airways New Zealand websites while also founding important cultural projects like nzmusic.com that helped revive New Zealand's love of local music and launch bands like Steriogram.He then moved into academia, completing a Masters of Design and was a Lecturer and Subject Director in Digital Media at Massey University. During his time at Massey he represented the College of Creative Arts on the Massey wide E-learning committee and received several grants to develop an innovative online learning environment that was subsequently adopted by the whole College. Mark has presented his research at international conferences and plans to tackle a Phd in design later in his career.Moving to Auckland in 2008 he took up the reins at Oktobor driving their push into the post-production creative convergence space. In 2010 Mark leapt at the chance to join Shift as Digital Creative Director and work alongside Che Tamahori on rebuilding newzealand.com from the ground up.As a User Experience Designer and Digital Media Researcher, Mark's interests revolve around the impact new web technology has on the way people communicate, their collaboration in groups and the information they exchange.His interests manifest in a wide variety of projects that cover diverse topics such as search engines, game theory, performance spaces, folksonomies, mapping and models of online consumer trust. He's an active participant in the international web development community and presents his research at conferences.In 2013 Mark started SpeedCurve, bringing together a diverse set of skills to single-handedly bootstrap the business. The first couple of years were tough going but through very deliberate choices to keep the business small, independent and focused on crafting the best possible product. SpeedCurve has exceed all its initial goals. It now has an amazing team of 8 spread across 4 countries with a product much loved and respected by some of the best companies across both the US and Europe.
