• Provide leadership responsibility as both Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer for a nonprofit with a $5 million budget and 25-30 core position employees and up to 75 seasonal hires. • As CFO, successfully led SCFA to strongest financial position in over 20 years. Took year end Cash Position from $190,671 in 2017 to $3,188,294 in 2022.• In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, developed and implemented one of the first fully virtual fairs in the country, recognized by International Fairs and Expositions with an award for Communications. • Schedule and manage events ranging from small private events to large events covering multiple days and utilizing over 50 acres and multiple buildings and venues. Each year, SCFA hosts the fourth-largest dog show in the country, as well as various athletic competitions, trade shows and music concerts.• Created a new Business Plan and budget model resulting in better cost controls and increased profitability.• Managed emergency response during wildfires and pandemic. Coordinated an ongoing vaccine clinic that administered over 125,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine over a 12-month period. Created systems to ensure that SCFA is a strong resource for both County and State.

• Took a career sabbatical to run for public office. Was one of two candidates to advance to the General Election following a primary with five candidates.

• Developed and oversaw legislative analysis on complex and politically sensitive proposals. • Coordinated with various business areas to ensure the methodology used to determine costs were included in legislative analysis. • Monitored CalSTRS implementation efforts on enacted legislation to ensure compliance with state law. • Advised CalSTRS management on the impact of various measures, initiatives, or political commentary.

• Successfully led recruiting efforts for a wide range of local government, special district, and transit agency positions, including highly technical positions and administrative support.• Led image branding and market positioning efforts for Bolt’s Government Division by producing government staffing related podcasts and outreach articles. • Developed original subject matter for articles focusing on issues important to California’s municipalities. Articles consistently achieved “highest clicks” for the newsletter, highest unique page views, and average time spent on page.

• Opened and operated four restaurants in Benicia, serving an average of 1,200 customers a week.• Managed day-to-day operations, including ordering and maintaining inventory levels, maintaining vendor relations, and ensuring excellent food preparation. • Conducted or supervised all human resources, including interviewing, scheduling, supervising, and compliance with labor board and workers’ comp requirements. • Created systems for labor, sales, and price structure analysis, purchasing, inventory control, and marketing.• Coordinated staffing, setup, and execution of over 500 events per year for up to 3,000 attendees per event. Worked within a wide range of budgets and venues.

A perfect complement to the self-employment side of my career, my years of involvement in local government allowed me to develop and use my skills as a team player as well as a team leader, to gain valuable experience in consensus building and stakeholder/community outreach, large contract negotiations, complex labor negotiations, and to generally participate in a large organization (200 employees). I was fortunate to have been a key participant in a new waste management contract that produced opportunities for real cost savings both for Benicia's residents as well as our business community while at the same time putting Benicia on the path to zero municipal waste. I'm very proud of my role in helping to create a "blueprint" for any future large scale industrial/commercial developments; protecting the profitability of the property owner while creating an environmentally sustainable model for the community.And I have a real soft spot for my work in introducing and shepherding through to adoption Benicia's Healthy Community Ordinance.

Developed guiding principles and implementation plan for SolTrans Joint Powers Agreement, Business Plan, and Joint Budget. I participated in SolTrans achieving key milestones including Federal Transit Administration Grantee Status and over $1 million in operating savings through the merger of three operating contracts.

Worked to develop the countywide Bike Plan, Pedestrian Plan, Safe Routes to Schools Transit Plan, Transit Consolidation Study, and Seniors and People with Disabilities Transportation Plan.
