About Niko Korhonen

I'm a designer by nature. I like to analyze how systems work from computer languages to electronics to linguistics to social media. To me the most useful attribute a designer can have is a curious, open mind. A designer should also be a jack-of-all-trades: I've dabbled in programming as well as visual & concept design in my work. I also have experience in producing, localization and testing.I've spent most of my life with video games starting from Commodore 64 and Nintendo Entertainment System to modern consoles and PC. Growing up I knew that games were an important part of my life. Rather than restricting myself to a favorite genre or type of game, I've developed an all inclusive taste.     I worked on level design in the established casual shooter title Mr. Autofire!I created hundreds of levels for with Unity development tools. I also created dozens of enemy and boss characters, scripting their AI patterns, developing new weapons and attacks.In addition I designd new playable events such as the Gambit and Heist. I also had the chance to create a new meta level event in the form of the Boardgame which rewards player for engaging with longer play sessions.

    I worked as a gameplay designer and helped create the best fire and rescue service simulator in Finland Rescue 2013: Everyday Heroes.My role was to design a management simulator where unique characters interact with a fully customizable fire station. Characters have their own wants, needs and interests that affect their morale as well as efficiency in their day-to-day rescue service work.
