    This 12-week session provides the participants direct experience and insight into the mission development skills via weekly training from NASA scientists & engineers, and consistent collaborating with teammates to design a team project. STEM students nationwide gathered and got assigned to teams of 12 in order to generate a Preliminary Design Preview (PDR) of a lander mission concept targeting the Tiger Stripe region on Saturn’s Moon Enceladus to fulfil a science investigation the team plans to conduct. PDR document describes the science objectives, experiments, spacecraft design, and payload by following the PDR Outline provided.- Chose a desired landing site to investigate in the southern hemisphere of Enceladus.- Identified the science objectives and success criteria aligning with the mission.- Designed a payload that will be appropriate to succeed in the planned science acquisition. - Developed a lander design that fitted in these constraints: up to $400 millions of budget, 77 kg (170 lbs) in mass, which encompasses all components including EDL and payload, and a 51cm X 51cm X 76cm (20in x 20in x 30in) in volume of the stowed configuration.- Applied the knowledge of NX Siemens CAD, Organizational Chart, Gantt chart, Budgeting, System engineering requirements, risk analysis, functional analysis, and space craft analysis to demonstrates that the overall program preliminary design meets all design requirements, is within cost and schedule constraints, and satisfies the customer.- Presented as a team in a video of ~10 minutes (link provided).

The expected outcomes are to generate 4 quad charts and one full 7-page proposal. - Identified a NASA pain point aligning with the solicitation and the overall goal of landing on the Moon 2024.- Engaged with Subject Matter Experts to mature the concept. - Worked with the team of 12 to propose a detailed solution on using Ferrofluid to transfer heat and maintain habitable temperature for the crew.- Wrote a 7-page proposal including detailed Gantt chart, risk assessment, Key Performance Parameter, and 3D design.- Participated in a 3-hour reviewing session to evaluate 3 other proposals and learned how the reviewing process normally runs; the session was led by Chief Technology - John Dankanich - and other session leaders at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center.
