At Springtide Research Institute, I lead and collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects that explore youth mental health, racial equity, religion / spirituality, and civic engagement. My work involves designing and implementing mixed-methods studies, including large-scale surveys and in-depth interviews, to uncover actionable insights about adolescents' and young adults' wellbeing. I also collaborate with stakeholders—enhancing funding, and ensuring that our research addresses their practical challenges. I help produce high-impact reports and present findings to diverse audiences, including policymakers and academic communities. I'm proud to play an active role in overseeing IRB compliance and ethics training throughout the organization.

In my roles as a researcher and an instructor at the University of Connecticut, I conducted several original qualitative research projects and taught courses in the Sociology department. My research focused on the engagement of Latino adolescents and young adults in political reform movements, particularly on how young Latinos' identities and discriminatory experiences shaped their risk management strategies during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. I secured institutional funding for this research, and published some of its theoretical underpinnings in a peer-reviewed journal. The courses I offered taught undergraduate students to question "common sense" assumptions about social problems and consider alternative perspectives. My courses equipped students with the analytic tools they needed to identify the influence of media, power, and discourse on public opinion and policy. I was recognized with teaching excellence awards for 3 consecutive years.

Conducted extensive literature reviews, synthesizing data from 50+ sources to help inform the Principal Investigator’s research design for a project related to refugee / immigrant education policy.
