My journey as an Islamic EntrepreneurDuring the last semester of my university, I was feeling overwhelmed by the pressure of my studies, final year project, Islamic activities, and the personal confusion that I was still carrying. I realized that I am not a young university student anymore but carrying a lot of expectations from family and society. So, now I was confused as to how I will strike a balance between my career and Deen. I feared that, in the race of career persuasion, I will lose my Deen again, that I will become like all those uncles who used to be religious in their early life but could not continue and eventually, submitted themselves to their job and Dunya at the cost of their Deen. SubhanAllah, it was such a time of confusion that at times I would simply freeze. The fear of stepping towards the unknown would take over my senses. Yet, deep down, I knew that I would like to be on the path of my Deen throughout my career persuasion. So I started to make a Du’aa to Allah by saying “Ya Allah! You know that I am about to graduate and the race of Dunya is about to start. Ya ALLAH, please make me do something which will primarily serve the Ummah/Islam and also give me sustenance for my family”. I believe, this is the beginning of my journey of Islamic Entrepreneurship.In later stage of my life, this Duah became my definition of Islamic Entrepreneurship. “Islamic Entrepreneurship is an initiative where serving Islam/ Ummah or humanity at large is considered to be the primary objective and personal or organizational level sustenance/ profit comes as secondary”. Also we can say “Any initiative/ product/ service which primarily serve Islam/ Ummah with a sustainable model is called Islamic Entrepreneurship”.
