During my end-of-studies internship, I had the unique opportunity to dive deep into search engine optimization. My role was to audit and optimize a company's website to improve its search rankings and traffic.I started by conducting extensive keyword research to identify high-value terms that aligned with the company's offerings. This involved analyzing search volume, competition, and intent to pinpoint the best targets.Next, I audited the website's on-page elements - titles, headers, content, etc. I looked for opportunities to optimize these components for the focus keywords. This included updating page titles and meta descriptions to include keywords, adding alt text to images, and integrating keywords into content naturally.The most exciting part was technical SEO. Here, I implemented improvements to site architecture, URL structure, speed, mobile optimization, and more. I also built internal links between related pages and earned high-quality backlinks from other websites.These efforts led to a major ranking boost. In just 2 months, we improved the site's search visibility and saw a 32% increase in organic traffic from Google.The internship gave me invaluable hands-on SEO experience. I learned optimization best practices and saw firsthand how technical and on-page factors impact rankings.
