Young Women Partcipation And Leadership Project Officer
Al Buhayrah, Egypt
The project is looking to strengthen individual capacities of children and youth (through COC) so that they feel empowered and motivated to challenge social norms and initiate joint actions that promote participation of youth, especially women, in the decision-making process. The action will organize young participants into youth groups and will provide them with tools and equipment to maintain communication with COC alumni and among other youth groups; to raise awareness and promote gender equality and youth participation through social media platforms, for example; and to hold CDAs and local authorities accountable.Besides, the project will capacitate youth/women-led partner CDAs in order to enhance their institutional sustainability, by training CDA’s staff to understand and internalize project management and skills on social accountability and gender equality. The action will help youth, communities and CDAs to better understand the stakeholders, their expectations, support, and potential contributions, in order to push for continued ownership. Also, strengthening linkages between the youth groups, CDAs, community networks and local and Governorate government officials will improve participatory processes and women’s engagement in planning, supervision and monitoring in the future (emphasis in Ministry of Youth’s Youth Centers initiatives).
