Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Professor Kevin Reynolds’ Group Served as – • Leading Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the following two different small molecules from bacteria: ­a. Combinatorial biosynthesis of novel antifungal and antitumor analogs of phoslactomycin and fostriecin by genetic engineering strategies (NSF Funded Research Program).­b. Production of novel antibacterial agents by identification and genetic manipulation of hygromycin A biosynthetic gene cluster (Funded by Pfizer).Key contributions include – • Utilized strong experiences and education in molecular microbiology, including identification, characterization and genetic manipulation of natural product biosynthetic gene clusters from microorganisms such actinobacteria. • Performed research leveraging expertise in generation of novel analogs of polyketides and aminocyclitol like antibiotics from producing Streptomyces sp. by applying genetic engineering strategies, such as pathway engineering, precursor-directed biosynthesis, combinatorial biosynthesis and heterelogous expression.
