Primarily responsible for:- Oversight of the VARA risk-based assurance program. - Oversight of the conduct of internal and external audits to ensure compliance to internal and external requirements (regulatory body Civil Aviation Safety Authority).- Oversight of the investigation of safety events, ensuring determination of casual factors, and implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.- Oversight of the daily safety report triage to ensure timely escalation of material safety events and effective management of safety reports- Stakeholder collaboration including Flight Operations, Engineering and Maintenance.- Promote and educate on safety matters through various platforms available to leaders and frontline teams.

Primary responsibilities:- Coordinate and conduct people and operational safety-related risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards and ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies are implemented.- Oversight the management of safety reports through the safety reporting system (Intelex) to ensure effective management of risk, and implementation of corrective / preventative actions as required.- Deliver safety-related training programs (i.e., Network Aviation Safety Induction) to enhance safety awareness and ensure all employees understand their roles within the airline's safety management system.- Oversight of the airline's assurance program (audits and investigations) to evaluate the effectiveness of the airline's SMS, and compliance with CASA requirements.- Develop and distribute relevant safety communications to promote safety reporting, and provide transparency to matters related to health and safety updates.Key achievements:- Migrating the airline's Safety Management System (SMS) manual to the Qantas Group SMS manual for a unified approach in managing safety- Successful implementation of the new change management process as required under the CASR 119 regulations effective 2 December 2021.
