Frontend Developer
My work as a frontend developer in Uchi.ru (educational platform for children with 1m+ DAU) mainly included:- full cycle development and release of more than 10 interactive browser games and apps with 60k+ DAU (using React, Typescript, MobX, Phaser, TexturePacker, Epub.js, Lottie, ReactDND, etc). This included work with tons of various animations and mechanics: 2d platformers, logic puzzles, PvP-like games, comics, simulators, etc;- working out the architecture of the frontend apps (mainly SPAs on React + MobX + React Router);- tasks complexity assessments and sprint plannings, PBRs, code review, code design review, automating code quality control (based on Github actions + Eslint, Prettier, Jest);- work on the API architecture for the frontend apps as well as the data contracts for those APIs;- setting up error monitoring for the apps (using Sentry, Kibana) — 2+ weeks of debugging users’ bug reports became 1-2 days of debugging with a clear stack trace and UA data;- leading small frontend dev teams (2-4 people): onboarding, task management, internal discussions and meetups, pair-programming and mentoring to improve their hard skills;- building processes in cross-functional teams with designers, backend devs, analysts for faster, easier and smooth game updates release — speeded up delivery about x3 times (from 1 month to around 10 days per feature);- development of more than 10 MVPs of the games for the UX-testing in short periods of time (up to 2 weeks per MVP).Besides development, I was taking active part in company’s initiatives:- competence sharing: I held out two inter-team webinars on working with Storybook and Phaser — the commonly used tools in the company;- brainstorms for new products: as a result, at least one of my ideas grew to be a full-scale game with 30k+ DAU;- hackathons: built up MVPs for the UX tests, at least 3 of them developed into production apps.
Frontend Developer
As part of the team developing Yandex Zen (feed and content creation platform with 1.5m+ DAU) I mainly worked on:- developing instruments to create content on desktop and mobile browsers and in webview (using Draft.js/Quill);- maintaining ui-lib shared by several frontend teams;- creating various interfaces of author’s backoffice (WYSIWYG article editor, statistics page, etc);- integrating content with other Yandex services (embeddings and ads);- building authors monetization interfaces: multilevel forms with custom validations (on React Final Form);- tasks complexity assessments, PBRs, sprint plannings and code review.I also did some a few important infrastructural improvements to the code-quality and release process in the project which speeded up pre-release QA testing about x4 times — from 4-5 days to 1.5 days:- set up the unit and e2e testing using Hermione (Selenium & Webdriverio based library) and Storybook;- integrated tests into the project's CI (with TeamCity pipelines) and set up reports to be sent to Slack;- created a universal npm package for unit testing all frontend projects in Zen.Besides, I volunteered as a mentor in 2019 Yandex's School of Interfaces Development which included:- creation and reviewing study materials and home assignments;- onboarding and mentoring a student group project.
