Glokala Folkhöskolan is an urban high school for adults with a focus on community involvement in a global perspective, from a local angle. The school gives university preparatory courses as well as liberal arts program such as Urban music and Urban art. I teach Social Sciences, English, Swedish and religion in year one as well as middle school. I do the lesson planning, classroom management, to a high degree I implement educational technology in the classroom.Together with ten other schools nationwide are developing a method course withing Agenda 2030, “My Story- Our Agenda”, the project runs over a two-year period. Year one is coming to an end, the students have made local projects connected to the Global Goals.

Östra Grevie Folkhögskola main school is situated just outside of Malmö with two branches in the city, it is one of Sweden’s largest and oldest high schools for adults. The school offers high school degrees as well as courses in liberal arts programs and preparatory police education classes.I gave English classes in year two and three, being the mentor for the university preparatory class. I did the lesson planning and classroom management. When the Covid-19 pandemic forced us to online teaching we learned to truly implement educational technology.

The Scandinavian school was established around forty years ago. The school is small and offers education from ESL to year nine. The curriculum is Swedish, however the students from the different Scandinavian countries are additionally having classes in thei mother tongue.I was mainly working with a seventeen-year-old student who due to several diagnoses needed support in all subjects. I would support the student achieve the goals set to graduate. I would substitute in all classes when needed.

I supervised students (10-18 yrs.) from the various international schools to prepare for their exams with a focus on languages, human- and social sciences and literature. I had students on different level of pre-knowledge who came to learn modern languages, I adapted the education to each student’s level and ambitions.

The Coral Settlement Project was a marine biology research project running over four years’ time. The study was conducted by Professor David Glassom based at the University of Durban. The purpose of the study was to research the growth of the coral reefs along the Mozambican coastline.My role was to scuba dive, collecting coral samples, transport them to the Marine Biology center and to collect and store the data.

Focus Fistula is an organization directed by the renowned surgeon Dr Igor Vaz and Martin Christenson, -manager at UNICEF globally. Focus Fistula is an NGO completely depending on donations, my role was to seek SCR from multinational companies, embassies, and local businesses. In Mozambique many women suffer from fistulas due to difficult childbirths, mainly but not always due to the mother being too young to carry a pregnancy. The project aims to surgeries and rehabilitation to these women to give them their bodies and dignity back.

The Autism center is very large with around fifty children attending where only a handful of the staff had special education training.I worked teaching the children as well as the staff at the center as well as organizing special needs caregiver training for the staff. I learned to change and adapt everything I knew about working with special needs student as we had very little material and knowledge. As the center is a small NGO it is completely dependent on donations, it was my role to secure fundings from the businesses within the community.

UNICEF has no direct work on the ground in Slovakia, the NGO raise money to send out globally to where in need. My role was to work with fundraising and contracting international partnerships.
