At my time in SCDAO's Child Protection Unit, I have been thoroughly researching the complex procedural issues the attorneys face in all trial preparation needs for child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect cases by delivering detailed and accurate memorandums. I have been incredibly grateful to be able to immerse myself in the complexities of child protection procedures by attending numerous trials in Suffolk Superior Court, trial preparation meetings with witnesses, and SAIN interviews with survivors. This work experience has helped guide my aspirations to become a child advocate.

At JLC, I preformed numerous client interviews with our sexual assault and child abuse clientele in a detailed yet comforting manner while highlighting the trauma-informed approach. My proudest achievements in this job was when I advocated on behalf of 40+ survivors of institutional child abuse by collaborating with the firm partner in drafting multiple testimonials and presentations to Vermont senators and congressmen. My day to day tasks included attentively researching the law and scientific articles to draft demand letters that advocated on the survivor’s behalf. I also was able to progress cases status by assisting multiple partners in document preparation, case management, research, review, and maintenance of critical and confidential files.

As a legal assistant, I completed case management including all correspondence, drafts and filing of all pleadings, motions, discovery, requests, mediations, trial documents, etc. In this position, I was able to advance to paralegal level work after 1 month of employment based on initiative and diligent care of the final product. Additionally, I trained new legal assistants on legal proceedings as well as the daily administrative needs for our product liability cases. During my time at AW, I was a key component in mass tort litigation and oversaw each individual case needs from discovery to settlement.
