I am a passionate, ambitious and determined young professional who shows integrity, tenacity and resilience in complex working situations. I firmly believe that success can only be achieved by taking initiative, working hard and staying focused on reaching set goals. I also have the ability to listen, communicate and relate to my fellow professionals, which I believe is an integral part of a healthy work environment. I've successfully completed my M.Sc Degree in Pharmacology at the North West University (NWU). My study focused on the behavioural and neurodegenerative aspects associated with efavirenz (EFV) (a well-know antiretroviral drug used in the combat against HIV-1) addiction alone or in combination with delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (the main psycho-active constituent in marijuana). My research was awarded 3rd prize in the Young Scientist Award in Basic Pharmacology category at the First Conference of Biomedical and Natural Sciences and Therapeutics (CoBNeST 2018). I was also nominated for the "Vice Chancellor Medal for Best M.Sc Student" at the NWU. Pre-clinical drug research is something I have always been passionate about, since it provides a sound platform for the promotion of drugs of high quality, safety and efficacy, which will further ensure the well-being of patients - another key interest of mine. I became a pharmacist to improve the general health of the population whether it be through conducting research or providing education/awareness. I am currently a Community Service Pharmacist at the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) (formerly known as the Medicines Control Council (MCC)). Here, I was fortunate enough to assist in the Backlog Clearance Programme and got training in various regulatory aspects pertaining to pre-registration amendments. So far, this year has been a valuable learning opportunity where I obtained knowledge I would like to pursue in the future.
