Ruaplanner Co-ExecutiveRyerson University Jan 2019 - Apr 2020Toronto, Ontario, CanadaI served as Co-Executive of the RUaPlanner program for the 2019-2020 academic year. RUaPlanner plans, facilitates, and hosts workshops in high school classrooms across Toronto with the assistance of professional planners and Ryerson planning students during World Town Planning Week every November. The purpose of our programming program is to inspire city-building and civic engagement values for youth. Our team successfully secured funding from Ryerson's Faculty of Community Services to include additional program in line with RUaPlanner's mission to improve the inclusivity of the program. With this funding, we hosted our first Youth City Lab at Ryerson in October 2019 for over 60 high school students where we successfully hosted an interactive day of activities and learning about city-building. We recruited Ryerson students and professional planners to engage with students at this event. RUaPlanner also co-hosts the annual 1UP Conference with Urban Minds, which invites youth to a day-long conference to learn about city-building through a speaker series and design jam. I was involved in the planning and facilitation process for the 2019 and 2020 1UP Conference. This involved securing a venue, catering, and speakers for the event as well as recruiting facilitators and ensuring the day ran smoothly for youth participants. -
