My why is ‘to empower and educate.’ I am interested in dismantling barriers to access and inclusion for individuals from diverse groups so as to empower institutional change. This includes the entire trajectory of individuals in the organization from recruitment through retention and working to create a culture of value such that everyone understands they are valued and that the work they do is valuable. I lead institutional transformation processes at a post-secondary institution and this expertise in leading complex projects, cultivating and maintaining relationships and collaborations with internal and external partners, is transferable to other organizations. Key steps for institutional change include retooling processes, policies, and procedures to be more equitable and inclusive, and developing programs that advance the core values of diversity, equity and inclusion in the organization. A critical component of effectively embedding diversity, equity and inclusion into the fabric of the organization is assessment. This requires informed data collection and rigorous analysis.
