Msc Thesis: Food Cue Reactivity In A Pilot SettingDepartment Of Human Nutrition, Wur Aug 2013 - Mar 2014WageningenFood cue reactivity (FCR) comprises biochemical and autonomic responses of the body to food-related cues, such as sight and smell of foods - optimizing digestion by initiating e.g. saliva production and ‘liking’ of the specific food before it enters the body. It has been suggested that the strength of FCR depends on whether a person is fasted or satiated. Additionally there are indications that some food categories trigger FCR more than others (e.g. palatable vs. unpalatable foods).Our objective was therefore to investigate FCR to visual and olfactory food cues in a fasted and a satiated state. In the current study FCR was measured as salivary flow and ‘liking’/’wanting’ of the food cues.

After nine months I transferred to be a carpenter, responsible for the upkeeping of the ship and received the training to be a deckhand and watchkeeper. In a team of mainly men I worked on the outside of the ship (rust work, painting, mooring, loading), kept watch (sea watch and gangway watch) and steered the ship.
