Appointed by Secretary-General Kofi Annan to Under-Secretary-General level post as Secretary General of award-winning United Nations Pavilion at Expo 2000. Created and supervised an international team of designers and curators. Worked with all UN Specialized Agencies globally to incorporate their information into the highly interactive (ahead of the curve in technology) exhibition.

NYC's senior foreign service officer and official liaison with the world's largest international diplomatic and business communities. Provided strategic policy direction, liaison functions and direct services to these constituencies, as well as to city, state and federal government, businesses and individuals affected by their presence; managing myriad complex dynamics at interstices. Commission also housed Sister City Program, which Hack directly ran for one year before assuming larger role. Created and maintained mutually beneficial exchange programs - technical, cultural, economic, educational and sports - with sister cities including Beijing, Budapest, Cairo, Jerusalem, Johannesburg, Madrid, Rome, San Juan and Tokyo.

Created briefing memos for incoming U.S. President and senior foreign policy team on the United Nations system globally, with particular focus on agencies - and key positions within them - of strategic value to the US. Focused on U.S. Mission to the UN, U.S. State Department's Office of International Organizations, UN Secretariat, special UN Commissions, Specialized UN Agencies and other UN entities globally where there was strategic value to have a U.S. presence.

Oakland Citizens Committee for Urban Renewal community development work, including working on-loan to CA Secretary of Resources Huey Johnson (1977-79) to create statewide renewable resource initiative with pilot tree-planting project in city of Oakland. Worked directly with OCCUR Executive Director Paul Cobb and CA Governor Jerry Brown.
