This award-wining think tank, charity and research institute is responsible for promoting a more effective government. I set up the communications function here four and a half years ago and we now command a unique position - working closely with Whitehall, influencing how government works, shaping public opinion about how government needs to improve. We achieve this through leadership and development for ministers and those preparing for government, our high profile events and discusssions, our research and insights into what works for effective government and through our influence in the media and increasingly prominent public and social media profile. @instituteforgov

This position was newly created to manage the growing number of issues that cut across Whitehall departments and steer policy on major issues such as social exclusion, social mobility, better regulation and reforming public services. My role was to provide strategic communications strategies covering web, media, publications, stakeholder communications and events. I was responsible for implementing the plans successfully, working with government departments, the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit, Number 10 and HM Treasury.

Responsible for running a busy 24/7 press office and acting as departmental spokepserson and press secretary for the Ministers for the Cabinet Office over this period. I was part of the team managing the government's response to terrorism threats, the Butler Inquiry and reputational, propriety and ethics issues involving ministers and senior civil servants. I acted as spokeperson for the Cabinet Secretary and for civil service issues and appointments. This was a position of high regard, which required trust in my ability to handle some of the most sensitive issues relating to government.

Headed up the news function for this major public inquiry and sole communications adviser to its Chairman Lord Bichard. The inquiry that looked in to why Ian Huntley was able to get a job in a school and slip through the net. Responsible for press and media strategy and final publication and event management.
