About Nadine Smith

Policy, purpose and communications and public engagement specialist with over two decades of experience from government, public and private sector supporting organisations in the UK and worldwide to achieve their goals. I am an influencer and networker, advocating for compassionate, inclusive and effective organisations that can meet today's demands and bring about public impact. I am also a founding director and now Fellow of the Centre for Public Impact (A BCG non-profit Foundation) influencing how governments and leaders see people, places and their potential to achieve better for people and I am a Fellow at EasierInc helping organsiations rise to new challanges. As a pioneer of new methods to listen to those we seldom hear and too easily write off, to increase participation and shape opportunities for personal and economic growth, I am always on the look-out for ways to innovate in the engagement and collaboration space. I founded my own company, Nadine Smith Consulting, at the beginning of 2021 to help others achieve social change to bring about the culture change, apply systems thinking and inclusive communications required for more engaged, listened-to and empowered communities. I am currently working full-time as Director of Government and Enterprise at Social Finance in the UK, and among many roles, helping to embed this new learning into government and community work. I have an established career inside and outside of government. Former Whitehall ministerial spokesperson, policy and communications and crisis management adviser to Number 10, DHSC, HMT and Cabinet Office.I am a former Director of Marketing and Communications in BCG’s fast-growing worldwide public sector practice and a former founding Director of Communications at the Institute for Government, bringing government leaders, business, the public and third sector together to make government and society work better. As an accomplished public speaker, facilitator and leader of worldwide work on government legitimacy and building trust with new communities (see my Tedx), you will find me out and about listening, learning and sharing new perspectives on better policy and government. I am a former media trainer and journalist and love to write about my learning journey and am available for events and conferences as a speaker and participant exploring new ideas to solve challanges old and new that traditional approaches don't touch.
