I’m a DEI and leadership specialist with 15+ years of experience driving innovation across education-oriented organizations. With a global focus of work, my goal is to reach and touch people in every culture and every country in every part of the world. As co-founder of Conscious Roots, I run business operations and design curriculum for a global audience around diversity, equity, social justice, and inclusion. The organization is dedicated to crafting experiences that allow people to unlearn harmful behaviors in order to live a more equitable and inclusive life.Prior to that, I worked as a project manager for 4.0 Schools where I developed relationships with and the systems to support 69 young entrepreneurs in bringing their ideas to life, specifically through the lens of a COVID-19 business response. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English & German from the University of South Dakota, and I'm currently completing my Master's in Adult Learning and Leadership at Columbia University.I am adept at developing inclusive environments, people development, and educational leadership. At Garyville Magnet School, I taught 2nd and 4th grade inclusion special education during the first 3 years of the school shifting from a resource-based special education model to a full inclusion special education model. I also served on our school's community connection team.In 2005, I was a member of the 10-person turnaround team when my principal was transferred across the school district to turn around a school in danger of being taken over by the state of Louisiana. During the 2005-2006 school year, I taught a fluctuating class of 25-40 students as that was the year Hurricane Katrina devastated our region. 100% of my students passed the high-stakes LEAP test.
